Any television buff will recall that Jack Paar was the host for The Tonight Show before Johnny Carson took over. However, he got his start in radio. Jack Benny saw a performance for the troops by Jack Paar and was so impressed that he told Paar to get a hold of him after the war. In 1947, Jack Benny got Jack Paar to do a radio show over the summer while the Jack Benny show went on summer hiatus. Benny’s script writers were consultants for the Jack Paar show and Jack Benny would even come and guest star on the show to assure its success.
